Alexander Mauz, Chairman of Executive Board
Alexander Mauz has been a member of the Pro Peace Executive Board since 2018 and Chairman of the Board since 2023. He is responsible for program work as well as the areas of training, communication and fundraising.
Alexander Mauz can look back on more than 20 years of experience in peace work, development cooperation and humanitarian aid. After studying international social work and peace studies, he held various positions at the Otto Bennecke Foundation and the Workers' Samaritan Federation. His work focused on promoting cooperation between civil society organizations and municipalities in order to develop social services in Eastern Europe. He also led projects on the conflict-sensitive integration of internally displaced persons in the South Caucasus and humanitarian aid in Central America and Haiti.
In addition to his work at Pro Peace, Alexander Mauz is currently spokesperson for the Civil Peace Service Consortium and a member of various civil society networks in Germany. He is committed to the idea that sustainable change is only possible through cooperation between civil society and local governments.

Caroline Wiegand, Executive Board Finance & Operations
Caroline Wiegand has been responsible for Finance & Operations, Human Resources, Facility Management, IT and Risk and Security Management at Pro Peace since February 2025. She is convinced that inclusivity, intersectionality and equality are essential prerequisites for sustainable peace and social progress.
She studied political science and sustainable development cooperation in Galway (Ireland), Göttingen and Kaiserslautern. In Ireland, she worked as a fundraiser for Amnesty International, among others. She returned to Germany in 2012, took on various positions at the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and qualified as an intercultural trainer at the same time. From 2019, she taught international project management at the Gesellschaft für nachhaltige Entwicklung mbh. Most recently, she was Head of Finance and Policy Issues for Placed Academic Teachers at the DAAD and managed a global academic program that supports around 400 academics and experts in over 90 countries every year.
