Between March and June 2025, Pro Peace – Kosovo and the Association of Journalists of Kosovo (AGK) successfully implemented the Academy on Dealing with the Past Journalism and Conflict Sensitive Reporting, training more than 20 young journalists from diverse communities.
The Academy included four training modules and a study visit to Skopje, aiming to strengthen the professional capacities of journalists to report ethically and sensitively on topics related to the past, conflict, and peacebuilding.
Modules Overview:
Module 1: Introduction to Peace Journalism Participants were introduced to the fundamental concepts of peace journalism and explored ways media can promote dialogue and build bridges in post-conflict societies.
Module 2: Fake News in Dealing with the Past This session tackled the impact of fake news on reconciliation processes, and equipped participants with tools to critically assess and ethically verify information.

Module 4: The Role of Media in the Reconciliation Process With guest speakers Lyudmila Makey, Iryna Synelnyk, and Xhemajl Rexha, the session focused on Ukrainian war reporting experiences and challenges of journalism in multiethnic contexts.
In June 2025, participants attended a study visit to North Macedonia, where they met with:

The Academy aims to shape a new generation of journalists who not only report on sensitive topics but approach them with empathy, professionalism, and ethical integrity. The partnership between AGK and Pro Peace – Kosovo stands as a strong model for long-term collaboration in peace-oriented journalism.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to promote responsible journalism in post-conflict societies, where dealing with the past plays a key role in reconciliation and building a better future.
