Enabling Participation: Women’s and Youth Rights in Palestine
Location
Online
How can we talk about peace in Palestine when women and young people remain excluded from political participation? In a society shaped by decades of Israeli occupation, patriarchal structures and a lack of opportunities to engage politically, their voices often go unheard. With the West Bank facing greater challenges every day, now more than ever issues of equality and political representation need to be emphasized and given a voice. Our local partner, the Palestinian Centre for Peace and Democracy (PCPD), addresses this very challenge — supporting young people and women to become actively engaged, take on leadership roles, and participate in decision-making processes.
During this evening, PCPD’s Executive Director, Hilda Issa, will offer insights into the organization’s work, highlighting the crucial role of youth empowerment and women’s rights for the future of Palestine, and showing how local engagement can bring about genuine social change.

Founded in 1992, PCPD advocates for a just and peaceful resolution of the conflict and for the establishment of an independent, democratic Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital. The organization focuses on strengthening the political participation of youth and women, promoting gender equality and women’s rights, and creating safe spaces for civic engagement and peacebuilding. Its goal is a democratic, just, and transparent society in which all people can actively take part in political processes.
