Term of Employment:  1 year (extendable)

forumZFD (Forum Ziviler Friedensdienst / Forum Civil Peace Service) is a German non-profit and non-governmental organization established in 1996. It is sustained by 38 member organizations and more than 150 individual members in Germany aiming at raising awareness for the approaches of non-violent conflict transformation and at creating and strengthening instruments and methods for nonviolent conflict transformation.

forumZFD is based in Germany, with presence of programme offices in Serbia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Northern Macedonia, Kosovo, Ukraine, Lebanon, Israel & Palestine, Jordan, Northern Iraq, Cambodia, and the Philippines. Present in Mindanao since 2008, forumZFD maintains a program office in Davao City, area offices in Davao City, Butuan City and Cotabato City. All programs and projects seek to address causes of conflicts around protracted economic, social and cultural marginalization through skills trainings, work with networks and media, organizing platforms for dialogues and other events.

forumZFD ensures that appropriate financial systems and procedures (cash management, budgeting and other related financial management) are in place to properly disburse, account, budget and report program funds which are cost effective, timely and have proper internal control.

General Functions

Under the overall supervision of the forumZFD Country Director, the successful candidate will be directly accountable to the Finance Manager. She/he shall be responsible to support the management of financial and reporting functions for the forumZFD programme and projects level to ensure compliance with the organization’s policies and standards. She/he will be working in collaboration with the other members of the administrative and finance team.

Tasks

  • Maintenance of books of account, i.e., Cash Disbursement Book (CDB); General Journal (GJ), General Ledger (GL) and Subsidiary Ledger (SL);
  • Enters reviewed and approved source documents from the project offices into the respective books of account;
  • Supports the Finance Manager in ensuring that all entries in the books of account and other financial records are accurate and up-to-date;
  • Supports the Finance Manager in the preparation of the monthly financial statements and supporting schedules and, bank reconciliation;
  • Organize and file cash disbursement vouchers and journal vouchers with complete supporting documents;
  • Provide support during the preparation and conduct of audits by organizing and presenting financial documents as needed;
  • Reports to the Finance Manager to ensure timely, proper and accurate recording of all receipts and disbursements of the office;
  • Facilitate timely payment of bills, office and house rentals and other obligations to service providers/suppliers;
  • Assist in the physical inventory of office equipment and supplies;
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Finance Manager, Administrative Manager and Country Director.

Qualifications 

  • Degree in Accounting or any finance-related field
  • More than 3 years of experience in bookkeeping and/or accounting
  • Strong knowledge of bookkeeping principles
  • Excellent in written and oral communication skills (English, Cebuano and Tagalog)
  • Highly responsible, trustworthy, with strong initiative, organized, flexible and a team player
  • With interest to work in the field of nonviolent conflict transformation and peacebuilding 
  • Willingness to work in an international organization, in a multicultural working team and with flexible working hours

 

Distinct advantages would be:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft office applications especially Microsoft Excel and familiarity with MYOB accounting software 
  • Experience in working with civil society organizations
  • Knowledge of the Philippine context, including social and conflict related issues
