Together with Talents4Good, we are seeking an Executive Board Member for Programmes & Policy, to join the organisation in Cologne at the earliest possible date on a full-time basis.

Pro Peace strengthens people around the world in their efforts to build peace. As an internationally active non-profit organisation, we promote non-violent approaches to conflict in 13 countries, working closely with civil society partner organisations to help shape a more just and peaceful future.
As Executive Board Member for Programmes & Policy, you will work closely and collaboratively with the Executive Board Member for Finance & Operations and the Supervisory Board to shape the organisation's strategic development. You will play a key role in guiding Pro Peace through a challenging period of strategic renewal and financial consolidation while strengthening its international impact.
Your Responsibilities
- Set clear strategic priorities with a focus on peacebuilding and global justice, ensuring Pro Peace is well positioned for the future.
- Strengthen the organisation's governance by aligning structures, processes and responsibilities.
- Lead and shape organisational change processes while providing stability in key areas of work.
- Provide leadership to our team leads, fostering a shared understanding of leadership and ensuring clear responsibilities and decision-making processes.
- Oversee Pro Peace's national and international programmes, communications and the Academy for Conflict Transformation, continuously developing our methodological approach together with the teams.
- Secure and diversify funding streams and provide strategic leadership for fundraising activities.
- Represent Pro Peace effectively and visibly in engagement with policymakers, institutional donors, international partners and the wider public, while building and maintaining strong networks and strategic alliances.
Your Profile
Our profile outlines a broad range of qualifications and experiences that we consider valuable for this role. We nevertheless encourage you to apply even if you do not meet every single criterion.
- You have several years of senior leadership experience in complex organisations, ideally in the non-profit or international sector.
- You have successfully led organisational or departmental change and transformation processes.
- You are confident operating in political and policy environments and bring established networks with relevant stakeholders.
- You have experience in fundraising and institutional donor acquisition and understand NGO funding mechanisms.
- You have substantial expertise in civilian conflict transformation, international cooperation and/or development cooperation.
- You build partnerships based on mutual respect and collaboration, both with international partner organisations and within your own organisation.
- You make clear decisions, remain effective under pressure and are resilient in challenging situations.
- You are a persuasive communicator and lead teams with empathy, reflection and a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion.
- You identify strongly with the mission and values of Pro Peace.
- You are fluent in both German and English.
- You are willing to travel internationally, including to crisis-affected regions.
- You bring international work and life experience as well as strong intercultural competence.
