Join our team working for peace and conflict transformation in Cambodia starting in March 2026. 

Who we are

Founded in 1996, forumZFD is an international non-profit organisation currently active in 13 countries across Europe, the Middle East and Southeast Asia. The organisation works closely with civil society actors committed to peace and non-violence in contexts of conflict. forumZFD advises and supports these partners and collaborates with them on projects and campaigns to promote sustainable peace policies.

forumZFD is a government-recognised member of the Civil Peace Service (CPS) consortium and a signatory of the Transparent Civil Society Initiative.

About the role

Our engagement in Cambodia began in 2015, focusing on Nonviolent Conflict Transformation (NVCT) initiatives. The programme facilitates spaces for exchange and offers trainings related to conflict transformation and dealing with the past for civil society organisations, schools, and universities in Battambang.

Together with a team of Cambodian and international staff, forumZFD works with selected partner organisations to strengthen capacities in nonviolent conflict transformation. Through this work, the programme aims to contribute to building mutual trust, understanding, and respect between different communities in Battambang, thereby supporting a more inclusive and peaceful Cambodian society.

Your tasks and responsibilities/Key responsibilities

As a Project Manager you are responsible for the planning, implementing, impact monitoring and financial controlling of projects and activities for different target groups and institutions (e.g. youth, minority groups, educational institutions) in Battambang province. Your tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Conceptualising and implementing forumZFD’s work in the area of capacity development in peace education and nonviolent conflict transformation (workshops, trainings, dialogue programmes), in close cooperation with the Battambang project team and partner organisations
  • Leading and managing the Battambang project team, ensuring the effective implementation and quality delivery of all project activities
  • Implementing internal monitoring, evaluation, and reporting systems
  • Selecting, documenting, and reflecting on experiences and lessons learned from activities and projects for internal learning and evaluation purposes
  • Conducting regular visits to local partner organisations to support and consult on the implementation of project activities
  • Developing of structures and networks to ensure the sustainability of the project
  • Supporting the administrative and financial management of activities
  • Contributing to the further development of the forumZFD programme in Cambodia

Your profile

  • Completed university degree in social science, peace studies, political science, Southeast Asia studies, psychology or a related field
  • Qualification in methods of nonviolent/civil conflict transformation, working with different actors (youth, educational institutions, or minorities), experience in designing and conducting trainings in the field of conflict transformation and peace building is desirable
  • Several years of relevant work experience in the Civil Peace Service and/or development cooperation, ideally acquired abroad and preferably in Southeast Asia
  • Proven experience in project management and team leading/management
  • Strong strategic and conceptual thinking
  • Experience in knowledge, financial and administrative management of projects, including reporting
  • High intercultural competence and the ability to work flexibly in a changing work environment within the Southeast Asian context
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and sensitively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Fluency in English (project language), both written and spoken; knowledge of Khmer is an asset
  • Sound computer skills; a valid driver’s licence and driving experience

Our offer

We offer an attractive position with responsibilities for a minimum of two years in a growing, mission-driven organisation.

As the position is based on the German Development Aid Workers Act (EhfG)[1], it is open for Non-Cambodian nationals only. The position is renumerated according to the provisions of this law, including comprehensive social security benefits and financial reintegration assistance upon return.

We also offer participation in qualification and professional development courses (among others, at our Academy for Conflict Transformation), a project-based preparation, regular coaching and, if needed, participation in a language course. 

Start of assignment

Ideally, you are available to start working on 01 March 2026 (preparation courses, followed by at least two years’ work within the project with the option of extension)
