The forumZFD partner organisation Helsinki Committee for Human Rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina organized on March 20th, 2019 a training for 34 teachers, professors and school principals in Bihać together with forumZFD in BiH as part of the Project “Civic mission of Education in BiH”. The training facilitated by forumZFD aimed to transmit new skills and exchange of knowledge on peace education and nonviolence in schools and local communities. The specific topic of the training was highlighting the importance of education for peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina today and exploring different pedagogical methodologies for transmitting knowledge on sensitive themes to students and youth.
Within the long term Project “Civic Education for Peace” by Helsinki Committee for Human Rights in BiH (supported by USAID in Bosnia and Herzegovina) with the expert’s support of forumZFD in developing educational material and training, teachers and educational practitioners use peace education content and methods in the classroom. Furthermore, the project advocates for the introduction of peace education didactic concepts which include nonviolent conflict resolution, multi-culturalism and diversity, critical thinking, multi-perspectivity, tolerance and respect, in the official curricula.
