This year’s forumZFD academic conference is led by forumZFD in North Macedonia, the Institute of National History - Skopje and the Institute for Ethnology and Anthropology in North Macedonia. The conference aims at rethinking the regional politics of memory, the various (ab)uses of history and memory and provides a platform for an interdisciplinary, cross-national discussion.
This year the conference will take a virtual format and will start with two online panel discussion.
The discussions aim to bring eminent scholars from the region and Europe to discuss the current socio-political developments concerning the politics of memory and the (ab)use of history in our contemporary societies. The debate will also try to answer questions of historical revisionism, the process of reconciliation, dealing with difficult pasts and national histories vs. transnational histories. The two panel discussions have similar thematic focus but defer in their geographical focus. The first panel discussion focuses on the wider European context and beyond South-eastern Europe, while the second one is focused on South-eastern Europe.
Join us for an interesting discussion!
