Local Conflict Counselling

We at Pro Peace have developed Local Conflict Counselling (LCC) to support those responsible in German municipalities in dealing with social tensions. We believe that conflicts are part of human coexistence. They are not necessarily bad, but a sign that existing behaviour patterns are being renegotiated.

We therefore see conflicts in communities as an opportunity to establish constructive coexistence in the long term.

How does it work?

In local conflict counselling, we use trained conflict counsellors who, as outsiders, can bring additional perspectives to the conflict situation and provide new impetus. Our teams support the cooperation partners in the municipalities over a longer period of time. We usually work together for two to three years.

Conflicts are part of social coexistence. They pose challenges to local communities but they also offer the chance to actively shape the way we want to live together. Local Conflict Counselling is a tool that helps municipalities address common local conflicts in a process-oriented and sustainable way.

The counsellors support local actors in developing options for dealing with the conflict in a more constructive way. In addition, the counselling process serves to establish sustainable structures from which the city or municipality can also benefit in future conflicts.

Get in touch!

We will be happy to come around and talk about the specific situation on site and discuss options for counselling together - confidentially and without obligation.

You can find our team here. We look forward to your e-mail!

We developed the approach of local conflict counselling at Pro Peace and implement it together with our partners at K3B - Kompetenzzentrum Kommunale Konfliktberatung des VFB Salzwedel e.V.. The five principles of local conflict counselling were also developed in the course of this cooperation.

Our activities are implemented as part of the project ‘Kommunen im Fokus: Konflikte nutzen - Integration gestalten’. Information on the funding of the project can be found under ‘Sponsors’.
