The Campaign "100 Women – 100 Streets Named after Women" is the first massive initiative of this kind, in which activists fight for equal women’s rights, question and request changes in politics of marking the public space and naming streets, as an important part of the overall culture of remembrance in BiH.
The Campaign has been prepared for a long time and the members of the Initiative and Pro Peace will appear with very strong arguments, such as why this is an important issue and to which extent the women, that have been contributing throughout history and present time, have been marginalised, erased and excluded from the collective memory, by which their work has been placed in forgotten archives and their achievements have been deleted on long-term and systematic base.
According to the research, which was conducted in 2020 by the members of the Initiative "Peace with Women’s Face" and Pro Peace in 12 cities in BiH, only 2.82 % of the streets in these 12 cities was named after women, which is the greatest indicator of female exclusion from the collective memory.
