The rapid change in society is also causing conflicts in German local communities. Current developments - such as migration and flight, climate change and structural transformations - cause feelings of uncertainty among many people. Behavioural norms, social standards and relationships are being renegotiated. This can lead to conflicts that pose challenges for local communities and require action.
This is where our commitment comes in: With the Local Conflicts programme, we support decision-makers and other local stakeholders in finding a constructive way of dealing with these changes. We do not see conflicts as a problem, but as a normal side effect of social change processes. Conflict can also be a driver for positive change.
Conflicts are part of social coexistence. They pose challenges to local communities but they also offer the chance to actively shape the way we want to live together. Local Conflict Counselling is a tool that helps municipalities address common local conflicts in a process-oriented and sustainable way.
Local Conflicts: counselling, training and more
Based on this conviction, we have developed the Local Conflict Counselling approach. We support local authorities in uncovering different perspectives on the conflicts within the local society and developing concrete options for action. Our support has helped numerous municipalities to harness the transformative power of conflicts, avoid escalation and build sustainable structures for the future.
We also offer training opportunities and interesting events for networking and professional exchange on local conflict transformation.
