Who we are

Founded in 1996, Pro Peace, an international non-profit organisation, is currently active in 13 countries in Europe, the Middle East and South East Asia. Civil society actors who are committed to peace and non-violence in conflicts form the focus of the organisation's work. Pro Peace advises and supports them, collaborates on projects and campaigns together for sustainable peace policies.

Pro Peace is a government-recognised member of the Civil Peace Service (CPS) consortium and a signatory of the Transparent Civil Society Initiative.

About the role

Pro Peace – formerly forumZFD – started its operations in Jordan in 2018. We work with local organizations on conflict transformation, with a strategic focus on social cohesion, gender equality, and environmental accountability. The advertised position will lead the programming on Gender Equality and Access to Justice.

You will join a committed team to co-develop meaningful, context-sensitive approaches grounded in Pro Peace's values of non-violence and building a more just and peaceful future.

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • Lead the programming on Gender Equality and Access to Justice (GEAJ) of the Jordan Program of Pro Peace 
  • Initiate, design, and manage projects on GEAJ with local partners, including responsibilities on conflict analysis, PMEL, and financial controlling
  • Strengthen the capacities of local civil society organizations and community-based initiatives in GEAJ, fostering constructive cooperation and advocacy towards the topic
  • Establish and maintain strong partnerships with civil society actors and governmental stakeholders 
  • Initiate and lead advocacy strategies to achieve civil society contributions to the policy discourse on GEAJ 
  • (Potentially) lead a small team of colleagues working on the same thematic outcome area
  • Support joint fundraising efforts with partners to sustain peacebuilding work on GEAJ
  • Report to the Country Director of the Jordan office

Your profile 

  • Advanced university degree in social sciences; conflict- or gender-studies; or another relevant discipline within the humanities
  • Extensive knowledge on Middle Eastern cultural and political contexts
  • Solid knowledge of political and sociocultural contexts in Jordan, with a clear understanding of the opportunities and limitations on addressing GEAJ
  • Minimum of 5 years’ professional experience in civil-society project design and implementation specifically related to peacebuilding work on GEAJ in the Middle East
  • Excellent command of Arabic (primary working language) and English (office language)
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills, with the ability to think strategically, reflect critically, and develop context-appropriate interventions.
  • Excellent interpersonal, facilitation, and communication skills, with high intercultural sensitivity and the ability to work independently and under pressure.
  • Confident use of IT office applications.
  • Valid driving license and willingness to drive.

Our offer

We offer an attractive position with responsibilities for a minimum of two years in a growing, mission-driven organisation.

As the position is based on the German Development Aid Workers Act (EhfG)[1], it is open for non-Jordanian nationals only. The position is renumerated according to the provisions of this law, including comprehensive social security benefits and financial reintegration assistance upon return. 

We also offer participation in qualification and professional development courses (among others, at our Academy for Conflict Transformation), a project-based preparation, and regular coaching.

Start of assignment

Ideally, you are available to start working in January 2026 with the preparation phase.
